Hoist the Jolly Roger maties an set sail for adventure with this here fun activity for your child's pirate birthday party. Thar be fun pirate birthday party ideas ahead me buckos.

First of all, consider the great decorations you can use for this pirate fest. Decorating for a pirate party can involve treasure chests, buckets overflowing with iced beverages, palm fronds across door frames and tables covered in bright tropical colors or even the pirate flag of skull and cross bones. In popular legend, it seems that every pirate flag consisted of a skull above two crossed bones. To see some real, historical pirate flags, CLICK HERE

Half the fun is designing your kids costume. It would be fun to pick a pirate personality like Blackbeard for the boys or Anne Bonny for the girls. Almost certainly some will want to dress up as Jack Sparrow of Pirates of the Caribbean fame but you can convince the kids that there were loads more swashbuckling buccaneers.

Once you decide on the personality, you can set out on the task of finding the perfect, most realistic pirate costume. Just think of all the great ideas you will find with all the fantastic costume suppliers at your fingertips. If you don't have the time or inclination to do it all yourself, there are wonderful online resources which will provide you with complete party packages. There are a number of costumers who supply not just the costumes but all the accessories needed like hats, eye patches, swords and guns. Just search Google for the things you need.

When you send out your invitations make them like a pirate treasure map with directions to your house (or wherever you are having the party) Of course, ‘X’ marks the spot. You could even make a large map of the party location, cut it into pieces and include a piece in with each invitation. When all the children arrive they can put the map together and hunt for the “treasure” – maybe a chest with chocolate coins in it!
